You will recognize the system information presented in the form of graphs and visual diagrams, which makes it easier to understand and consume.
Super Wallpapers:
Xiaomi also identified “Super Wallpapers” with MIUI 12. The company built high-precision animated 3D models of Mars and Earth which are based on the data available for space exploration from NASA. You can easily set these Super Wallpapers on both your locked and unlocked phone screens. Whenever you turn on the dark mode, the planet chosen by you for the wallpaper will also appear night time, thereby enhancing your visual experience.
New animations:
Xiaomi saw a lot on a visual redesign when it comes to MIUI 12. The new skin will come up with realistic weather animations and show real-time weather changes that appeared in the form of a time-lapse movie on your screen.
The animation of app icons will also get a refreshment time. App icons will now produce real-time feedback which is based on your gestures. Xiaomi tells that changes in gesture direction and speed might cause application icons to react in a different way.
For instance, whenever you delete an application, the ripple animation also affects the surrounding app icons.
In other areas, you’ll recognize new animations for screen rotation, buttons, charging, opening and closing apps, and more.
Health tracking:
With MIUI 12, Xiaomi users can record their daily health activities like walking, running, cycling, and climbing stairs, by just keeping their phones in their pockets. Xiaomi also says that it uses a self-developed “AI motion behavior perception algorithm” which helps to record accurate health data and also save power at a particular time.
Xiaomi also wants you to sleep with your phone by placing it on your pillow. MIUI 12 will come up with sleep tracking that will work by keeping your phone on your pillow while you sleep. This, the company declares that it can easily track when you went to bed, how long you slept, how deep you slept, and whether you have dreams or snored.
AI calling:
Xiaomi trained it’s AI assistant — Xiao AI —in order to answer calls from some of the users since last year. It’s moreover the same as Google’s Call Screening feature which was identified with Pixel 3.
Xiaomi has now recognized that after half a year of testing, the AI phone assistant answered 4 million calls for the closed beta users. With MIUI 12, Xiaomi has officially updated the AI phone assistant to a feature called “AI Calling.” With it, users customize the language in which they want their calls to get answered. They will also be able to switch between automatic or manual call answering.
Enhanced privacy:
MIUI 12 also comes up with intensifying privacy features to Xiaomi phones. For instance, you can now select to grant permissions to apps only once or only while you’re using them. Permissions will be canceled once you’re done using an app. For apps that don’t justify the use of permissions on your phone, the “Always Allow” option will not be available.
MIUI 12 will also serve users to keep track of app behavior. You will see a record of how an app behaves on your phone, the information it collects, the other applications it uses, etc, all located in one place. You’ll also get a reminder on the top of your phone screens when sensitive permission, such as your location, is being used by an app.
Another amazing feature of Xiaomi defines as the “Mask System” offers rogue apps with empty information and a virtual identity to protect user data for five permissions containing contact lists, calendars, and call records.
The feature of photo-sharing will also be safer. Xiaomi says sensitive information such as device details will be rooted out from image files before you share them with anyone.
New navigation and gestures:
MIUI 12 release will provide a revamped navigation settings for Xiaomi devices. This new navigations button at the bottom will display more refined and will surely come up with new gesture controls too. This provides MIUI 12 a whole new iOS type experience if it didn’t already feel inspired enough.
Better camera UI:
One of the most exciting changes will come to the camera UI of MIUI. With all the hardware developments in recent times with mobile lenses, software revamp should also be a welcome change. Nothing much about it is known now and we will have to wait patiently to see how it pans out.
Perfect dark mode:
Yes, that’s the phrase that is out there about this new feature. MIUI 11 already has got a perfect dark mode but it has left its users to need for as it feels somewhat unpolished. But with the new MIUI 12, we can predict a big alter here as system applications will have a better optimized dark mode.
One of the MIUI’s engineer has also reported that the upcoming MIUI 12 will bring global system-wide dark mode support. That means dark mode feature can be used by a user in almost all third-party apps. The dark theme will change the background color to black or dark grey and text color to white. Moreover, the dark theme will drain the battery and strain on the eyes.
New notification system:
With the new MIUI 12, it is predicted that we will see a completely revamped notification center. Over the years it had brought the same interface but this time around we might see a big change here with the feature of new notification manager. It will enable the user to control everything about the notification from style, design to the font.
System-level changes:
This could be great news to many as Xiaomi is adding some new additions to the system UI overall, towards possibly some new health services.
Optimized ad services:
MIUI users avoid ad services but they know they don’t have a choice. However, with MIUI 12 it is predicted that we have some new optimizes to the advertising services. Maybe we will have an option to disable it, or maybe we can tweak settings around to make it less disturbing.
MIUI 12 release date and availability:
Xiaomi declares that it’ll start releasing in the market of MIUI 12 by the end of June 2020.
